Plastic Tray: The Many Uses

 Plastic Tray: The Many Uses

When many of us think of plastic tray, oddly enough, the first thing that comes to mind are the plastic food trays we all used in elementary school cafeterias. Those trays with the separate compartments, just like back when we were toddlers. When you think of it, though, those really are not a bad idea.

The moulding of the various compartments keeps food from spilling, they're low cost for use in a high volume environment, and they're nearly indestructible, much more so than using china plates. Such trays are used in many food serving environments, not only schools but in hospitals and nursing homes.

Fast food restaurants always have plastic trays for customers to carry their food to their tables. They're also widely used in workplace cafeterias. Your server at your favorite restaurant brings items to your table on a tray. Restaurants and catering businesses love them because their polycarbonate construction means that when dropped, they don't shatter into a million pieces, thereby not causing any risk of injury.

Plastic trays are extremely durable. They can be washed many times in industrial strength dish washers without risk of damage. Although they are taken for granted, for all of these reasons plastic trays are necessary in the restaurant business not just for the customer, but for the business itself.

It's not just the food industry. Plastic trays are used in a wide array of businesses, such as for organizing and housing electronics; in the medical industry for packing and shipping plus organization of medical supplies like catheters and pacemakers; as ET Electronic tray Packaging and containers in the telecommunications industry; for organizing parts and components in-house for automotive production; for packaging of toys parts and components used in electronic games; as processing trays in-house during the assembly process in the computer industry; for organizing parts and tools in the after-market automotive industry and hardware and building supplies; for businesses that manufacture using injection molding; and many other uses.

Plastic trays are formed with heat and fibers in a process that is inexpensive for manufacturers. The machinery process uses heat-shrinking of fibers and composite materials with molders to make durable and uniformly designed trays. Trays used in food service are made from food-grade polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and high impact polystyrene (HIPS). Plastic trays used for medical equipment are made from amorphous polyethylene terephthalate (APET), Barex, HIPS, PETG blister packaging (PETG), PS Clear (polystyrene), and PVC
